View this post on Instagram Ever seen one of these before? It's Asarum campaniforme - a recently discovered type of wild ginger. It hails from Hubei province in China and has flowers that resemble cut kiwi fruit edged with purple velvet in late winter. Is it just us or do alpines rock?! 🤩😍🤩 It's not closely related to culinary ginger, but the resemblance between its roots and smell is unmistakable. This is what gives it its colloquial name of 'wild ginger.' This plant was shown by Wilma & Jim Wright at our Bristol Flower Show in 2012 where it received a preliminary commendation from the Joint Rock Committee. These awards draw attention to plants with great potential as garden or show plants. Love our out of this world alpines?
